WOUNDS TO WISDOM: YOGA AND RECOVERY
June 29 – 30, 2019
Swaha Yoga Center – Athens, Greece
We are all recovering from something; negative self-talk, traumas, addictions – the list goes on. Yoga means “to yoke” or “union”, and through this practice we can begin to put the pieces back together and come closer to wholeness.
By compassionately inviting and integrating shadow back into our lives, we can stand bravely in our humanity, which in turn, will help others do the same. Endless ripples!
We will flow, breathe, meditate, and share in commUNITY. With collective excavation and awareness, we can truly turn our chaos into clarity and our Wounds into Wisdom.
SATURDAY, June 29, 4-6pm
This 2 hour explorative movement session is designed to tap into the spaces of the body where we have a tendency to store old stories and pain. Sending breath + awareness as well as utilizing shaking, flow, and stillness, will help to alleviate stored emotions and tensions to create room for more freedom.
SUNDAY, June 30, 1-5pm
In this experiential workshop we will blend asana, meditation, self-inquiry, + philosophy to assist in identifying our conditionings and limiting beliefs. By combing this with tools to regulate the nervous system, moves can be made towards the gentle befriending of our shadows.

Cole has been a seeker all her life. It has brought her into the depths of addiction, to all corners of the world, and most importantly to the path of yoga.
Through this practice, she began to see the disillusionment of drugs and alcohol, which led to her personal recovery and now advocacy for others caught in cycles of pain and self-sabotage.
Regardless of what flavor of struggle shows up in our lives, Cole truly believes that yoga and mindfulness can be a journey to untangle traumas and wounds that can lead one to closer to peace and wholeness.
Tanya Popovich is a certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher, Yoga Alliance ERYT500, and Yoga Acharya (Master of Yoga) in classical Sivananda Yoga tradition. She started her meditation practice at the age of 14 through Transcendental Meditation when her parents initiated her and her brother into meditation as a way to deal with the post-war trauma. For the past 15 years Tanya teaches yoga internationally as a way to restore union and unity in diversity that had been taken away from her as a young teenager due to war in former Yugoslavia. A teacher’s teacher, Tanya founded Swaha Yoga Center in 2011, and Shri Gaia Institute in 2017. Tanya believes that community, connection, practice, nature, and sharing around the fire are the fastest ways of healing our wounds.
